ONLINE REFRESHER FIRST AID TRAINING: ADAPTING WORKPLACE LEARNING

The COVID-19 outbreak has caused world leaders and governments to implement significant travel and working restrictions around the globe, leading to mandatory remote and flexible working arrangements being put in place.

However, businesses should remain vigilant in ensuring the safety of employees as risks of accidents and injuries still persist in all kinds of workplaces, which now extends to including those employees now working from home.

Subsequently, access to training courses has been significantly reduced. With first aid qualifications required to be renewed every two years, the ability to stay first aid certified is compromised.

Gallagher Bassett (GB) has a long history of understanding and promoting better workplace health and wellbeing given our origins in managing the rehabilitation of employees for over 56 years.

We believe employers should remain committed to support the training and development of critical skills needed by employees.

GB is now able to offer clients an online, virtual refresher course.

Online First Aid Refresher Course

Embracing digital learning, GB has adapted workplace learning and training programs, offering clients online, virtual refresher courses. These courses will cover relevant topics required for attendees to effectively and competently complete the training, including refreshing unit standards.

GB New Zealand Relationship Manager, Rachael Smith, said the central purpose of the Refresher First Aid Training is to update skills and demonstrate knowledge and management of first aid situations and conditions.

“With the addition of virtual training courses, we will ensure employee skills are current, whilst maintaining compliance, even when working remotely,” Ms Smith said.

GB’s online first aid refresher courses meet the appropriate standards of a first aid refresher without the need of a 6 hour ‘face-to-face’ session.

Prerequisites

Individuals wishing to undertake the Refresher First Aid Training will need to provide a current copy (or within 3-months of expiry date) First Aid Certificate.  Attendees will need access to a computer camera.
