The latest results published by WorkSafe show GB is once again a top-performing Agent.

For the third year running, Gallagher Basset has achieved outstanding results in WorkSafe’s annual Agent Performance assessment.

WorkSafe independently collates and compares data from all their Authorised Agents relating to workplace injury claims, return to work rates and claims management. Results are published each year in their Annual Report.

GB’s performance on claims duration in Victoria is particularly impressive.

These results represent the percentage of workers on weekly payments at four key milestones in the life of a claim: 13 weeks, 26 weeks, 52 weeks and 134 weeks, with an aim of having a lower percentage of workers on weekly payments at these key milestones.

Results in this area show that GB has been the number one performer in the Scheme for the past three years, consistently achieving earlier return to work outcomes resulting in lower claims costs for employers.

John McNamara, GB’s Executive Manager – Statutory Workers’ Compensation, said he was extremely proud of these results.

“Our Victorian operation has produced stellar outcomes over the last three years. This consistency across every milestone is a clear demonstration that we have the right strategies in place to drive positive outcomes for our clients.

“These results equate to stronger and more sustainable return to work outcomes for injured workers and also reduce the cost of claims and premiums,” John said.

GB’s General Manager – Workers’ Compensation Victoria, Graeme Munro, attributes this consistently strong performance to GB’s unique workers’ compensation claims management structure.

“A key difference with Gallagher Basset is that our structure provides a very high level of support to our Case Managers,” said Graeme.

“In addition to their senior management team, our Case Managers can access expert assistance from Return to Work Specialists, Technical Managers and Injury Management Advisors.

“This means our Case Managers are empowered to drive liability reductions and deliver exceptional service to our clients.”

Best in Scheme for long-term claims reduction

Active long-term claims reduction is another noteworthy result area for GB. The latest comparative data shows GB is achieving outcomes that are well ahead of Scheme average.

Graeme Munro said that GB’s performance in this area is resoundingly positive.

“Our results are almost 50% better than the next strongest Agent. To achieve best in Scheme by such a margin is extremely satisfying to our entire team of dedicated claims professionals,” he said.

“Tail claims present a unique set of challenges for all Agents. GB has developed specific strategies to meet these challenges and I’m extremely pleased to see that our approach has proven to be so effective.”

Graeme is confident that these positive results will continue.

“We look forward to working together to maintain and build upon the fantastic results we’ve seen over the last three years.”
