Gallagher Bassett sponsored Australian Paralympian Jack Swift.

This event gives Australian athletes with a disability the perfect opportunity to race on a world-class track, and represent their country in future international events. The paratriathlon involves a 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run.

Jack was sadly involved in a workplace accident in 2006, when an excavator fell and crushed the lower part of his right leg. Gallagher Bassett handled Jack’s claim, and worked with doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists and counsellors to ensure he was quickly fitted with a prosthesis.

Within a short five years of rehabilitation intense training, Jack was able to represent Australia in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in athletics in the 400m and 4x100m events.

‘I could easily have just sat on the couch and felt sorry for myself after the accident, but getting back to work and getting on with my life was good for my health, physically and mentally.’ Jack said. ‘I couldn’t have done it without the help of my case manager at GB.’

We all wish him all the best with his upcoming race.
