On the 8th of January Gallagher Bassett (GB) appointed Mr Sameer Oghanna to the position Head of Automation, AI and Analytics for Australia and New Zealand.
With more than 16 years’ experience, Mr Oghanna has established himself as one of the leading automation and AI experts within the insurance industry.
His background includes responsibility for the development and execution of GB’s Application and Business Intelligence Strategy, which has seen GB appointed to develop systems solutions for a number of high profile contracts including, most recently, icare’s NSW Government General Lines portfolios.
Mr Oghanna said this position demonstrates GB’s commitment to being ahead of the curve on the changing needs of our customers and community.
“I’m excited to further our digital initiatives by driving automation, harnessing artificial intelligence, and embedding machine learning and analytics deeper into the business,” he said.
“Successful adoption will improve outcomes for our customers through more efficient and effective operational performance, and enable the discovery of new product lines for GB.”
This new role will report to Julian Martin, GB’s General Manager of Information Technology Services.
“I’m thrilled about the enhanced capability this new role will enable us to offer our clients”, said Mr Martin.
“Artificial Intelligence has the potential to completely transform the way we think about customer experiences in the insurance industry. Sameer’s expertise, as well as his passion for delivering outstanding user experiences, will help us position our clients to thrive in this new landscape.”

As Australia’s leading third party claims administration specialist, GB partners closely with clients, brokers and insurers to understand and harness new technologies to achieve better customer service and improved claims outcomes.
